What To Expect

Day 1: Departure

Addis Ababa – Lalibela

Morning: Flight from Addis Ababa to Lalibela.
Afternoon: Explore the famous rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, and Bete Giyorgis.
Evening: Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 2

Lalibela – Mekele

Morning: Breakfast and departure from Lalibela to Mekele via a scenic drive.
Afternoon: Arrive in Mekele and prepare for the Danakil Depression expedition.
Evening: Overnight stay in Mekele.

Day 3

Mekele – Danakil Depression

Morning: Early departure from Mekele to the Danakil Depression. Visit the salt flats, salt miners at Lake Asale, and witness the formation of salt bars.
Afternoon: Continue to Dallol, known for its colorful hydrothermal deposits, and explore the volcanic landscapes.
Evening: Camp at Hamed Ela village, experience the local Afar culture, and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Day 4

Danakil Depression – Mekele – Addis Ababa

Morning: Visit Erta Ale volcano, hike to the rim to see the active lava lake (depending on safety conditions).
Afternoon: Return to Mekele and catch a flight back to Addis Ababa.
Evening: End of tour upon arrival in Addis Ababa
