What To Expect

Day 1: Departure

Addis Ababa to Mekele

Morning: Fly from Addis Ababa to Mekele.
Afternoon: Meet your guide and start your journey to the Danakil Depression.
Evening: Arrive in Hamed Ela, set up camp, and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Day 2

Hamed Ela – Dallol – Lake Asale – Abala

Morning: Visit the Dallol volcano, explore colorful hydrothermal deposits, and see the sulfur springs.
Afternoon: Drive to Lake Asale, observe salt mining, and watch the sunset over the salt flats.
Evening: Head to Abala for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Abala – Erta Ale Volcano

Morning: Drive to Erta Ale base camp.
Afternoon: Begin the trek to the summit of Erta Ale volcano.
Evening: Arrive at the crater rim, witness the lava lake, and camp overnight on the volcano.

Day 4: Return

Erta Ale – Mekele – Addis Ababa

Morning: Descend from Erta Ale and drive back to Mekele.
Afternoon: Fly from Mekele to Addis Ababa.
Evening: Arrive in Addis Ababa and conclude the tour.
