What To Expect

Day 1

FLY ADDIS TO JINKA(BCO)

Pick you up from airport, transfer to hotel freshen up and go to south Omo research center, Visiting the ethnological museum would give us brief preview of ethnographical information about verity of tribal groups residing in Omo Valley, depending on our time we can also have a chance to visit the evening market of Ari tribe. O/N Eco-Omo Lodge.

Day 2

JINKA-MURSI-TURMI

This day our expedition stars early morning with an excursion to a Mursi village (approx. 66km from Jinka). Meet the Mursi, they are renowned for wearing largest lip plate and ear lob ,Then after lunch we drive to Turmi (120 km ) from Jinka , O/N – Buska loge

Day 3

DRIVE TURMI –KORCHO-DUS– TURMI

Early in the morning, make an excursion trip to Korocho to visit the Karo the Karos residing on the bank of Omo River, are celebrated for the finest body painting and body scarification. Return to Turmi for Lunch, This afternoon we will have a visit of biggest hammer village O/N – Busk loge Meal (B,L,D)

Day 4

DRIVE TURMI – KANGATEN-KIBISH

After early breakfast we depart to Kibish to the heart of Suri land (Surma), crossing Omo River the from Kangaten side on newly build bridge, the west side of side of the river relatively been isolated and preserved from tourist radar enroute we encounter different wild animal as we crossing Omo national park. Today mostly it driving aiming to get Suri for the evening photo section. O/N – camped tent

Day 5

FULL DAY SURI(SURMA) PHOTOGRAPHY

The Suri still remain less visited tribes due to their remoteness and inaccessibility, and are also the most photo desired of all, for  their incredibly ornate decoration of themselves, which they achieve through painting, scarification and adornment with flowers and other natural objects. O/N – camped tent

Day 6

DRIVE KIBISH -KAKUTA

Early depart to KAKUTA spend this afternoon and the morning visit and photo the Bume tribes. The BUME: camping in Kakuta will give us chance to get familiar with the life and culture of one of the most worriers tribes in Omo valley Nyangatom women use (Hang) enormous loose colorful bead necklaces around their necks, they shave round their scalp and leave a central frizzed tuft of hair on to which a generous amount of red ochre is applied. And Niagatom man undertake voluntary scarification on his upper body killing traditional enemies, man’s hair style is clay hair buns in to with ostrich feathers could be fixed. Both men and women elders are also famous in their labial piercing into which they plug decorative wooden, metallic or ivory structures.

Day 7

KAKUTA -TURMI

This afternoon Continue drive to Turmi central town of the Hamar Tribe, transfer to Buska lodge relax getting ready for the next morning tribal photo expedition.

Day 8

TURMI - DASENECH -TURMI

After breakfast, make an excursion to Omorate which is found east of the Omo River; We cross Omo River by a small boat and walk 20 minutes to the Gelab (Dassanech) tribal village. Dasenech people are also known for their body painting and body scarification. In any of the above afternoon we might be attending Hamer bull jumping (age rite) depending on when and where happing.

Day 9

TURMI - JINKA- ADDIS (FLY JINKA(BCO) -ADDIS (ADD)

Return to Jinka airport en route visit the weekly tribal market of Dameka (on Saturday) or Keyafer (on Thursday) Market is a bustling place where various dwindling tribes of the Omo Region come together to socialize, share what is happening around and sell and buy goods. Ari, Tsemai, Hamar and Benna people can be seen mixing in the colorful marketplace and proceed to Jinka and transfer to the airport.
